Buying the 800mm as I HATE CROPPING

I have looked at the link you posted for your files and I see great loss of detail in the 1/500s @ 6400. iso 100 looks great though (Crops below are at 200% in Canon DPP).

Canon : How important is lens IS given IBIS?

A YouTube videographer commented use IBIS for wider angle lenses and the lens IS for telephoto lenses. Last week I was shooting with a 300mm f2.8 IS at f2.8 at 1/60s with just IS no problems at all. Search for this on YouTube and go to 08m 47s. Do You Need Image Stabilization? | Ask David Bergman

    Actuations...

Methinks : It is only a lot if you take a lot of photos, so lets say the camera has 249,000 actuations remaining. If from now you take 249,000 photos a year with it (300,000-51,000=249,000) the camera will only last you a year . . . If from now you take 12,000 photos a year with it the camera...

Beginner Newbie raw virgin seeking advice please (That doesn't sound right!)

Editing RAW is nothing to be wary of, it's just a bit of this and a bit of that to tweak the photo into something you might like better than was taken with just Straight Out Of Camera (SOOC) settings with no tweaking. For editing .Jpeg look at the free software Gimp, and Paint can be useful too.
