Are you up for a challenge?

Nah . . . Try it and see, if the light is at the right angle it's very simple, if it isn't then it becomes very difficult. It's a sweet challenge :)

    urban Fox

I think that whether they're misunderstood or not depends on context - we have a small farm with chickens and lambs, and have a very different viewpoint. The same comment applies to wood pigeons, crows and grey squirrels. A fox once tunnelled its way into our free range hen enclosure. It took...

Lighting challenge 2, a shiny subject

2nd Lighting challenge – Something shiny. Standard rules apply here – use just one light, and post the results with no post processing (which tends to hide faults), and I shot it in a small room, to show that very little space is needed, This is a bit like a product shot, in that it sets out...

    portable studio lighting

Yes, the Godox trigger system is the best. Visico does have all the bells and whistles, personally I don't find HSS or TTL useful, but they're there for those who do. IMO, FWIW, the competitive cycle has started to turn again. A few years ago, the lighting world was dominated by just two...

    portable studio lighting

@Phil V and @troutfisher are both right. Godox are now seriously expensive, one alternative (high end) flash about equivalent to the AD400 is the Visico 5, for a fraction of the price, I'm very happy with mine and it has a very bright LED modelling lamp too...

cctv saves the day AGAIN !!!

I had CCTV covering the road outside my studio, for the obvious security reasons. A passing car once knocked the wing mirror off my car A Lorry wrote off one car Another lorry wrote off another car A delivery van doing a 3-point turn backed into one of my cars. In every case, the drivers...

Are you up for a challenge?

I've almost started thinking about the next one, which will be even simpler - but more demanding. :D Still hoping for more contributions on the first one . . . @Phil V @Scooter @everyone else

Need some help with 2 light setup

These lighting panels are made for home video, and they're OK for that (although studio-type LED lights are much better, with more power and, more to the point, with the ability to fit modifiers). The panel lights are cheap and popular, but a very poor choice for still photography. They are...

Need some help with 2 light setup

Busy right now, will reply in full later -but can you cancel that order and get a flash instead? Mixing a low-powered LED light that cannot be modified in any way with high-powered flash just doesn't make sense.

Horrified! Just discovered POTN, is no longer a thing, so I am (another) refugee

I haven't owned one since about 2000, maybe the answers above may explain why :nikon: :)

    Exposure Comparison

This. Good on you for experimenting, that's how most of us learn, but too few of us do enough of it. But changing the exposure, by adjusting power output, or lens aperture or ISO only really changes the appearance In terms of brightness, and the only real benefit is in perception of what looks...

I finally found a use for cruise control.

Good for you, that sounds great :). Unfortunately my car isn't that clever, and cruise control is normally only useful on my car if everyone else maintains a constant speed, which they never do :(

I finally found a use for cruise control.

Yesterday, had my first puncture for a very long time, although I'm sure that I'll get another before I can replace the tyre:) 93 miles of mainly A road and M roads to run, I changed the wheel, and fitted the horrible "Spacesaver". It was clearly marked as 80 km or 50 mph maximum, and even got...
