Why have I lost the top of my photograph, but it can be seen in Widows Photo viewer?!

Windows viewer does not have the ability to. Apply the firmware corrections to raw images In most other programs and formats they are applied automatically. With mirrorless cameras you see the adjusted jpeg in the finder when shooting raw. This is not the case with a DSLR.

    Rechargeable AA Batteries

I use both eneloop and Ladda rechargeables. The are both excellent in holding their charge. However the charger plays a vital role in the life of cells, you need one that monitors individual cell while charging.

The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

I have had various Fuji cameras, some made in China and some in Japan. I have noticed no difference in build quality on any of them. Nor would I expect any difference, as they both rely on the same supply chains. The Chinese manufacturing is now world class in every way. Unfortunately those...

The XC 50-230 is a far better lens than it has any right to be for the price..

    Crop factor lens hood equivalence

Few lens hoods are made with no leeway around around the field of view. Most lens hoods used in the cine world and for large format cameras with movements are of the bellows type that are fully adjustable. Lens hoods for zoom lenses usually cover the widest setting and are not adjustable. The...

    Wedding photographer caused mayhem…

For a real experience watch out for CofE Church Wardens. They have real power if they want to use it. It extends to the church and grounds. The celebrant only has authority over the service.

How to separate negatives stuck together

I would ask the advice of a museum conservatory specialising in restoring photographic images. The protein making up gelatine emulsions loses its integrity with age. And can easily melt or lose its adhesion with the film backing. And simply disintegrate and slide off. I would definitely not use...

    Critique Help please

To be useful, lens flair is something to be controlled and used. It can equally totally destroy an image or enhance it. Each lens has its own characteristics and behaviours. Trial and error only helps if you remember what you did and can repeat it. Some lenses can prove far more useful than...

The Hand works best as a shade when using a tripod. But on shorter lenses it can work. The other way is to put your whole self, camera and all, under the shade of something like a tree or hedge row. Makes you less conspicuous too. Need the instincts of a sniper. Keep down and light off the glass.

    Critique Help please

It does not matter if It is a chair or a hare. If left up to the camera alone, back lit subjects will always be underexposed. It will usually take some two stops exposure compensation to expose the shadow side of the subject, so as to give anything like a natural look. Light directly into the...

    Money thoughts …

Banks can only give advice about their own offerings. He would not have mentioned any others alternatives. Banks do not give independent advise. You can transfer between isa's as much as you like. but you can only invest a max of 20k new money in ISA's each year. It can be split between cash...
