:bang::bang::bang::bang:
Last night was the night, X-Factor finalists Bad Lashes and Laura were setup to perform in my local club. I was asked to join them and take some shots.
The night was going well, a lot of good portrait shots a few good ones of the club, some action shots of Bad Lashes and then disaster struck.
Laura was just making her way up on to the stage so I swapped memory cards and took my SanDisk Ultra II SDHC out and put my SanDisk Ultra II in. Immediately I had problems the camera froze as soon as I took my first photo after the format. I left it a minute the write to card light was not on and I was shooting in RAW.
I then removed the battery and formatted the card a couple of times, eventually it worked but by now I had missed a whole song. The when I got home I had shot about 200 photos but only 80 of them were viewable. The rest were corrupted.
Was I doing anything wrong, and could anyone please recommend me the most reliable and fast SDHC card ??
Cheers
Sandisk are considered the best by many are you sure its a genuine card?
Sandisk Extreme IV (45mb/s) card is the fastest but most plumb for the Sandisk Extreme III (30mb/s) since it's a little cheaper and probably the fastest your camera BUS will work at (and USB 1.0 only works at 12Mb/s which most Card Readers run off).

the 111 are extreme cards, i have a few of the cards and the extremes come withrecovery software, if you want to pm your address, ill see if i can dig it out for you.
if it was me i would buy a couple more cards and chuck the problem one away. chances are you will have probs with it again

Get a new card reader, that speed must be painfull after a week away!
you tried using software to rescue the card? sandisk have their own one, but i use photorescue.
i lost a 100 photos at least years BMW F1 Launch.. the card was properly screwed, but i got about 20 back with photorescue

Bit of a bummer for you there Jonathan.
I used CardRecovery when my 8 gig SD Extreme III corrupted on me. Got all the pictures back. I think unless the card is physically damaged you should be able to rescue all pictures.
My fingers are crossed for you.
And I'm also slightly jealous you were in the same vicinity as those gorgeous-looking girls.....but that's for another thread ;)

Another vote for the software bundled with your card! its great for corrupted files!

so you were ASKED to take photos of Laura and you did not have spares with you?:bang:
always carry spares, - beg steal and borrow if you need to
use all the different recovery software that you can find on the net - after making a copy of what is on the card - many work in different ways - try them all to make the best of a bad day.
Real SANdisk extreme cards are very reliable - consider the one you have to be a fake - send it to sandisk to find out -
if they say it is not but do not replace it - bin it
if it is a fake - bin it

Thanks for the offer mate, I have bought 2 Extreme III which should be arriving shortly so I shall use their bundled software (If they come with it) to try and rescue the situation.
Failing that I'll drop you a PM (If I have enough posts lol)

I had a read error for the first time on one of my 3 year old 8gb CF cards last week. Odd as Id already copied everything from it and was just copying it to another machine for backup. Dont know if it was the PC or not but decided to play it safe and binned the card.

Every Sandisk card I've ever owned has suffered memory corruption. Thats why I only use Lexar cards now.
Pete
The only problem I've had with SanDisk SDHC was my first 2GB card, which my card reader wouldn't read, but was OK with a fake of the same capacity. Since then I've bought several 4GB cards from Play.com, with a reader included.
I've not bothered to try the SanDisk recovery software, as I'm happy with Magic Photo Recovery (http://www.magicuneraser.com/photo_recovery/) for snooping around.
