I wanted to use this seriously for the first time today since buying it a while ago, I had it working when I first bought it but unfortunately I do not have the instructions any more.

I remember you press the button on the transmitter so far down for the autofocus and then al the way to to open the shutter, I also recall it has other settings such as bulb.

I have plugged the receiver in and switched it on and then tried the transmitter as described above but nothing happens.

Is there something obvious I am missing here, is there a setting on the camera before it will operate?.

Check batteries and make sure the transmitter is the same setting as the receiver (if it has that function).

Mal,

Which version of the Phottix do you have? I'll copy the instruction leaflet and send it to you if you PM me an email address.

Bob

PS...tomorrow :)

Mal,

If this is the one i think it is, the on/off switch operates in reverse. Ie: The red power button must be "raised" for the unit to be on.

If it's not the unit i'm thinking of please ignore this.

Is it lighting up as if it's working?

I have one I bought for the D80 that was only used a couple of times and the receiver is totally dead, swapped the batteries with my D300 one but it still doesn't work
