I'm going to be upgrading from a 400d to either a 40d or a 50d in the next few months (want to do some research first so I don't waste my money).
I have 3 lenses at the moment, a 15mm fisheye, an 18-55mm kit lens and a 28-105mm, will the effect on a 40d or 50d be different than on my 400d?

I used the 28-105 a couple of times on my 40D and it performed really well.

The 3 lenses listed will be the same on either the 40 or 50 as on your 400

To answer your question: no, not really. There is no real difference. They may show up poorer quality glass (such as your 18-55) more than your current camera though.

Unless you seriously need the extra FPS of the 40D, why not go for better glass? Something used like the 17-40 f4L would be in budget and replace the 18-55 a treat?

Cheers,
James

I use the 28-105mm as a walkabout on my 40D, gives much sharper results than on the 350D I upgraded from. I do not know how the 400D compares against the 40D.

I don't really use the kit lens now to be honest, for outdoor photography and photoshoots, I use the 28-105mm and for nightclub work I use the 15mm. I'm going to get the 17-85mm with the 40d or 50d I think.
