View Full Version : Hama Tripods
Does anyone own a Hama tripod, what`s the quality like ?
They tend to be worth about what you pay for them ;)
Its the Hama Star 61

Erm you get what you pay for, if you have the funds, Redsnapper come highly recommended and are a lot better built..more expensive though unfortunately..

looks like the one my folks got me for christmas(bless 'em ;))
tbh its not worth £58! i doubt they paid more than £30.
it does exactly what it says on the tin... its a stand to put your camera on, seems to hold it securely enough.
its not light but i wouldnt class it as heavy, and it came with a bag to hold it in. it also has spirit levels built in.
yes there are much better ones on the market but for the price(not the one on PC worlds web site!) i cant say its that bad.

cheaper than chips http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-MODEL-HAMA-STAR-61-DIGITAL-CAMERA-TRIPOD-QR-HEAD_W0QQitemZ110320096867QQihZ001QQcategoryZ3325Q QtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem?refid=store
i have one like the cheap hama one Stuntmonkey linked to and its crap, the top has broken so it will no longer hold stable, tbh id spend more and get a decent one first time round saving you money in the long run .

in a word... NO
i bought one about 18 months ago thinking it looked like a bargain... i got it, unpacked, repacked and returned within 10 mins(no joke). there is no way i would trust it with an SLR. to be fair they actually advertise it for smaller cameras...
i hate to say it but the hama is better!

Someone gave me a Hama Gamma 72, still in it's box................................and it's still in it's box! I might just get it out to use with the camcorder, but I certainly wouldn't put anything heavier on it. :nono:

Dont knock em I have the Hama Omega Pro II legs and they are so good with the manfrotto head, The lower priced ones are just not worth bothering with unless you have a very light camera but the Omegas are top quality

The redsnapper is too much for me, unfortunately.
I am now looking at the Velbon CX 660

Hi,
save up a bit longer and buy a good one or you will end up buying 2 or 3 cheaper ones and THEN still have to buy a good one
So and I speak from bitter past experience save money in the long run and buy once.
Have a wee looky here http://www.sliktripod.co.uk/pages/PURCHASE.html .Good build quality for the money .

Got to agree with this. I have 3 hama ones, none of which get used. In fact I still haven't bought a good tripod, (though just got a good mono) the problem was I wanted a tripod quick so went for a cheap one. The cheap ones don't hold the weight of a dslr (in my opinion).
