Nikon 18 - 105mm f3.5 AF-S ED VR
Pros = Its a Nikon so I like the name, its cheaper its longer and has VR

Sigma 17 - 70mm f2.8
Pros, its wider than the Nikon , its faster but are sigma as good as nikon?

Having owned both, I can say without reserve that the Sigma would get my vote. Stunning lens and far better built than the Nikon.

Just to clarify, the Sigma isn't an f/2.8 lens, it's a variable aperture one, with the maximum aperture at 70mm being f/4.5, likewise the Nikon is f/5.6 max at it's long end.

In which case it's most certainly a winner for the Sigma. The nikon lens is good, but the Sigma (on the examples I have used) is sharper.

Sigma 17-70 is a good little lens. I would go for that.

Cheers fellas, I was just going to order the Sigma in the link above but I cant find an option that lets me choose nikon fit or canon fit, it just says Sigma fit ?
You can put pretty much any AF lens on a D200
you're in the sigma fit section of WE
