Hi,

My dad would like some binoculars, so I am thought this would be a good place to ask for advice, as I know nothing about them.

He would like to spend around £50.

If you need to know anything else to aid in helping me, please ask.

Sorry for this thread being so brief, as I said I know nothing about them so I cannot say much on the subject.

Thank you,
Matt

For hand holding 10x is about the highest magnifcation, also as in lens the larger front element with let in better light
I have just brought some 10x42 Opticrons for nearly £200, top class stuff can be over £500

I bought some 10x50s from the RSPB HQ at Sandy in Bedfordshire. £35 I think. For the money, I'm very impressed. :)

£50 wont get much new, maybe worthwhile looking on ebay for second-hand. You'll want to be looking at porro prisms they are the bigger bulkier type, but at your price will have a sharper image and a wider field of view. Nikon Action 8x40 could be had for £50 not long ago at Jessops bit on the big side but decent image quality. Jessops were doing some Tasco bins around £70 these are nitrogen filled for fog proofing & water proof. Pro bins start from £500 to over £1000+ as usual with optical equipment you get what you pay for.

My advice, for what it's worth :bonk:

The Bresser 10X50's are magnificent.
And for £25, even better!!!!

These should retail for a lot more. They are as good as it gets......

Get them here (http://www.telescopehouse.com/acatalog/Bresser_10x50_Binocular_Special_Offer.html)

(I have nothing to do with that site, it's just the first one I found @ £25!!)

I have a pair of Nikon binoculars, same as these for sale, but the non waterproof version, here in the classifieds,

I have no complaints and find them good to hold.
