Well, I've decided to try a 365 this year. I feel I need to push myself to develop my photography, particularly new ideas and techniques.
So here goes -

A crackin' good start to your venture. Speaking as a '365 creator myself where I'm now dead-on halfway through mine's, I wish you all the best.
Nice one, wish I had something like that local to me.

5/365 - the dreaded return to work after the long Christmas break! I've been meaning to do a shot like this for a while. I'm not really too happy with the way it turned out to be honest, so will try it again sometime in the future (will have to think of a way to rig the tri-pod up inside the car!). Taken with the camera attached to the passenger headrest with a Gorillapod and remote :).
That's not a bad effort Dave. Could yu have gone ultra wide and got yourself in the frame? ;)
davekiddle
05-01-2009, 17:55
Thanks Marc. It was ultra wide at 10mm with the Siggy 10-20mm - trouble was the camera was pointing in the wrong direction!

Ah, easy then. Next time, rip out the front passenger seat and strap the camera to the rear one, job done! :D

6/365 - Had a really busy day at work and a meeting tonight so didn't get much opportunity to photograph today. Saw Sarisbury Green Church on the way home tonight so had a go with the good old Siggy 10-20mm.

As for in car shots, if your tripon has a bag hook, hang some weight from the hook for stability, if it doesnt, use bunji hooks to the seat runners ;)

9/365 - I'm not feeling very inspired or creative today. I saw this on my way home from work and grabbed a shot. I didn't have my tripod with me so I had to over-expose the moon (I expect the dynamic range between the moon and crane was too much anyway )
Looks like the cables from the crane are behind the moon! :D Don't worry Dave, out of 365 you're entitled to have an off day.
dellipher
09-01-2009, 17:54
I think it works even with the over exposed moon.
The "problem" with taking the images for 365, is we even have to take them when we'd rather be doing something else!!

Dave, if you cannot find anything out and about, what about something inside to show how your day went.....or a nice hot fire ;)
Nice idea mate shame about the blown moon but as you said there was probably no way of getting it without the moon overexposing or underexposing the crane.

Hi Dave, just been directed to this site from another forum. I have decided to do my own photo a day challenge (not to the same standard as yours) and your thread was the first of the same subject I stumbled upon. what can I say, Your shots have provided me with much inspiration and admiration.
My effort A Photo a Day (http://shrubmonkey.smugmug.com/gallery/7008587_Pf87B#449471295_UjmrX)
My biggest challenge is that I work from home in a small village and I'm finding inspiration really tough :'(
Edit: I guess you live in Hampshire from your shots? I'm just up the road in the Andover area.
If I knew what it was Dave, I'd comment on it. Whatever happened to Action Man, now THAT was a toy! :D

But you've got off to a great start, particularly Jan 9th - what fantastic eyes! You might want to start posting here too - there's a lot of encouragement and ideas between us all.

nice to see the cats are getting involved, day 15 cat loks like a princess lol

Yes, shot through the glass, but to be honest the Leopard was walking around everywhere in the cage so a short focal length lens would've been fine.

22/365 - Shoes under the spotlight! Saw this in a shop today and thought it would make an interesting shot, so sorry Fabs, no self portrait today! :)
Well, three weeks gone and I'm still feeling as excited about a photo a day as I was when I started...... :cuckoo:
Really enjoying your 365 so far Dave! The shot(s) of Barton cliff-top are really lovely - my wife and I often walk our dog there as we live and work in New Milton.:)
I may have an little idea you might like for a 365 shot if you're interested/running out of ideas at any future stage! ;) I will drop you a PM at some point...
Best of luck with the 365 - I'll be following it with interest!

24/365 - Went out to the local church tonight as I had seen it before all lit up and thought "That'll be a good one for my 365". Guess what? It wasn't lit up tonight! Took some shots anyway and got this - a bit of processing to get something out of it! :D Here's to a better shot tomorrow!
70 secs at F10 ISO 100 (I think)
Haha,
I saw the inside lights on in the one down the road, and they were well balanced for brightness with the sky. I thought that'd make a nice shot, went down, parked up, set tripod up, went to press remote shutter.....
.....lights went out. AAAAARRRGGGHHHHHH LOL :D

Thanks Keith. The new backpack is HUGE! But I can fit all my gear in and its a lot more comfortable than the shoulder bag! (Even if I do feel I look like I'm going on a 50 mile yomp when wearing it!)

25/365 - Me x 2! Had this sort of shot in mind for a while so decided to give it a go today. This was actually my practice one but I spent so long in Photoshop trying to figure out how to get it right that I've now run out of light and can't be bothered to do it again! :bang: I'm not exactly happy as they're not the most flattering of poses either! Ah well, back to this concept later I think when I've had a practice or found an easier way of doing it! :help:
Good effort there Dave it would probably take me 2 weeks to get the photoshopping done on one of these

I did wonder how you took your snow "footprint" shot, and it was good to hear how you did it - the Gorillapod sounds ideal!:D
Personally, I think your shot of the Olympus camera and the 35mm film is just awesome! I understand how long it can take to get this kind of shot "just" how you want it, and you've produced a very professional result there imo. It works really well on the black background, and the reflection is superb! Was there much photoshop work involved, or did you achieve the look you wanted mostly in camera?
Looking forward to seeing more, keep it up!
