Thats right im looking at modifying my 300mm, nothing at all drastic, ive done a mock up below. Im looking to get it printed locally onto Stickyback plastic (woo BluePeter flashbacks)

The label measures exactly 100mm x 440mm

Opinions? besides my printer is poo.

ITs good, but I don't use OCUK :P

A TP one could be very good idea though

I don't like the aesthetics personally, but if you wanna advertise forums on your lens then good for you.

I like the idea actually...Not just from our point of view (coulda put the URL underneath :p lol j/k)

Seriously though, the amount of times I've been out and it would be good to spot another forumgoer.
Whenever I've been out, if we see another photographer, we tend to look at each other with a "i'd really like to have a friendly chat with you, but I cant really come up to you and start talking, that would be wierd"...

Good conversation opener

Reading the thread title - first thoughts were:

OMG whats he done to such a fine lens:eek:

On reading the further I think its quite good, I've seen press photogs use something similar at racing and other events.

Shame you cant have lenscoats printed in custom designs because they would be ideal way of attaching to the lens, not so keen on using adhesives on the lens body, hoods wouldnt be too bad though

Totally agree - whenever I see another photog I wonder if they are on any web forums (in particular here), especially as there are a few from my area on here now

I don't really like the other graphics you've used tbh, but the Talk|photograhy part is grand.

Ive just emailed a company asking for a price, I will get this made by either them or my local vinyl printer and keep you updated.

Thats a good idea about the URL, my idea was are Marcel has suggested, a convo opener, ive posted elsewhere on here about the same sort of thing, but having the URL would allow Lens Hood Spotters from all over to see the forums.

I wonder if the same sticker would fit on the hood of my 120-300 2.8. Hmmm...

Just a thought. Could this be made in a soft plastic slip on sleeve, or maybe shrink fit. I'm just thinking that if and when the time comes to sell the lens a stuck on strip is possibly going to devalue it somewhat

I didnt think of that.... I honestly cannot think of a reason Ill ever sell the Lens.

A replacement Lens Hood ET120 is £260.... hmmm...

I was thinking it would just peel off, but, I suppose if its on there well enough to withstand the weather and storage in my camera bag, it might take some paint with it.... and as you say devalue it.

I could cut a thin plastic sheet to size, secure that in a hoop with tape around the Hood(like the paper one atm), then stick the Vinyl too that.

Sorry Dreeder stickers always means tacky to me..:(

I have the 300mm f/2.8L and wouldnt dream of having that stuck on my lens.

Sorry bud..:(

Now get yourself a camera neck strap with some logo on it would make a better propersition.

The POTN have been selling them for quite some time and are very good sellers by all accounts..

PCworld sell this stuff
(http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/store/pcw_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1684415040.115739939 2@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccckaddikfhlldjcflgceggdhhmdgmi.0&page=Product&sku=675198&fm=null&sm=null&tm=null)

It's for printing stickers for windows etc. It should work nicely on the Lens body :)

Hell no, there's nothing nicer than passing a little time having a chat with a likeminded person you don't know. That is unless they just want to rattle off a kit list. I have been known to fall into a coma listening to some dull old camera club fart go about this vs that.

People who just roll up to you and share a little passion about making images are a rare and treasured treat though.

I'm liking that DreederUK. The only thing that I would do is to have higher res logos if possible. I might do that with my 70-200L F/4 hood.

I have also added you to msn if thats Ok. I'm a memeber of OCuk too.
