I'm going to get my 24-70L calibrated, because it's really not very sharp (http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showpost.php?p=1141608&postcount=6) (to put it mildly). Has anyone done this before? Is it just a case of sending a lens to the service centre, or is it best to send the camera along so it can be done in combination? (Even though I don't have problems with the camera using any other lenses)

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks,

Nope, it can go away on its own. Are you within warranty? Canon do it for free I believe, if the lens is UK sourced and still in warranty.

If not, I can recommend Fixation in Victoria.

Cheers,
James

Thanks for that James.

It was bought from Kerso back in Feb, (i.e. US sourced I imagine) and has a Jan 08 date stamp (I bought it s/h). I don't have proof of purchase, but first registered a problem with Canon in December. D'you think I stand any chance of getting it done under warranty?

Cheers

Ditto Fixation, always found them to be excellent, which is more can be said for Canon CPS

Canon will want to see proof of purchase for a warranty repair.
