none canon lenses [Archive] - Talk Photography

a friend of mine has a quantity of sigma/tamron lenses, he's unsure if they are suitable for digital cameras, would i damage my spanky new 40d trying them ? is there any way to tell if they are digital friendly ?

Shouldn't be a problem testing lenses :)

If he could tell you what they are..ie. focal range and aperture, DG etc. etc and you could re-post, I'm sure we can advise :)

If they are Canon EF fit then they will all attach to the camera.Older lenses will probably not sustain autofocus and some may not recognise the electronics full stop.Its a case of trial and error--------but hey you might get a pleasant surprise--just dont bank on it !
