View Full Version : Tripod Advice Needed

I have a very cheap tripod which was great value but doesn't seem sturdy enough for my needs. I have a Nikon D70s and will use a Nikkor VR70-300mm lens which will be the largest weight on the tripod. My budget is no more than £100-£110 and I also have £30 of Jessops vouchers to use (though I'm not limited to Jessops).

Is the Manfrotto 190XB a good bet? And then what about heads? Does it come with a useable head or must I purchase seperately. I plan to use the tripod for night shots, indoor buildings and surf photography.
I'd appreciate any help!

I think almost any Manfrotto will be OK, and I've alway used them without a single problem.

but.....

there a number of peops on here that swear by Redsnapper. I've never used one myself, but I've never seen a negative comment about them. So I think you should check out a Redsnapper.

Yeah they sound pretty popular. I was just a little unsure if either would hold the weight of the camera at 300mm in moderate wind?

I'm sure there will be one that's capable of holding that type of kit. May be you could post a specific question about which Redsnapper for a 300mm etc. etc..

I'll actually be quite interested to see what the answer is. If I knew how to subscribe to a post I'd subscribe to that one. :-)
