But as time passes and more members join the number of people voting will increase and this means that the early round points aren't worth as much as the later rounds. Wouldn't it be better to award an amount of points to the first 5 or 10 entries in each month ? Somthing like:

1st = 10
2nd = 6
3rd = 3
4th = 2
5th = 1

as an example. Then at least we know how many points will be awared each round, unlike the current system which depends on the interest of the forums members.

we will review the score system at the end of the year, we though a few months to see how it works out was a good way of doing it

The reason of doing it one point per vote, was simply to give future entrants a chance to win the overall year.

This way it prevents someone getting first place for one or two months and 'running away' with the show, as I've seen happen elsewhere time and again.

I do the same too. If I see a POTY type competition, if I've missed the first round, then there's usually no point in joining in as it's too hard to catch up.
This way the playing field is slightly more level to give everyone a fighting chance, while allowing those with more votes to still win etc.

We all appreciate the tremendous effort and hard work consistently put in by TP site staff ... but ... :clap:

I just love adding to it ... :D

Would it not be good ... in the true spirit of 'LeaderBoards' ... to have the leaderboard in both alpha and numeric forms ... so that viewers may see 'at a glance' the order of merit ... :thinking:

Just a thought ... :D
