I see Nikon have released a firmware update for the D300.

Has anybody installed it yet?

Is it worth the hassle?

Thanks.

They have? According to Nikon Europe, the last firmware update was released in October. I installed it, it gave an extra bar on the battery meter but that's all I noticed. Apparently auto-focus was improved slightly.

That's the one I was referring to. Back end of last year it came out. If that's all the noticable differences, I don't think I'll bother. Thanks for the info. :)

I installed it and I think the autofocus locks on target faster. This may of course be my imagination but it do`s seem faster :)

the last update also gave you the option to add copyright and artist info to files exif data and allowed a slower shutter speed to be selected in the auto ISO menu...and other stuff too!

I've sold my D300 bodies now but the last update - in december I think made a huge difference to AF - try it.

I also installed it, personally I cant see any real difference. Wayne

I did mine when it came out. It did help AF and also 'seemed' to have sorted dead battery syndrome with the 70-200mm fitted. Thinking about it, I dont think it has played up since I did it....
