HI there,
I'm Poll - (as in Pol - rather than Pole, whcih can get confusing when there is a Poll to vote on).

Anway - I've been photographering for a about 18 months going from a Pentax Optio to a 2nd hand 300D with a sigma 28-300mm to a 20D with a "Bigma", a Sigma 17-35EX, a Canon 50mm f1.8, a sigma 150mm macro, a canon 100mm f2 (i think) and my new 28-105L (delivered on weds). Lots of overtime spent!! which got me a kicking from the mrs. So many lenses!! it's because I can 't settle on what I actually like to shoot, so figured a varied range would be good for now and then sell some stuff later on. Most used = Bigma, 17-35, 150mm

I reckon I've got a hit rate of about <1%, so looking to improve quite a bit, technically and artistically....with some help???:geek:

Welcome aboard, the marks from the kicking will heal - your lens collection however will remain, until you decide to sell it atleast;)

Wise words - though the healing process is underway, my fingers are still too dislocated to use kit proper....heyyy, a ready made excuse for poor shots!!

Hi Poll and welcome to the forum - I'm in the same boat (with less kit though) ie I don't know what I want to shoot yet - mind you I've just treated myself to the Canon 100mm f2.8 macro (a steal from Ian Kerr!!!) and await both delivery and my wife finding out!

Howdy. I've got about the same percentage as you so maybe we can commiserate.

if I may.... I'd recommend feiging an arm break or wrist break. My Mrs knew exactly which fingers to go for - my grip and shutter finger on the right hand side and the index finger and thumb I use for focussing on the left....the crafty begger :bat:

Hello Renee - indeed, I'd very much like to!! I thought I'd be getting better - well, I was, then I regressed, for some reason - to bothered about technicality I think:geek: - I'm thinking of going back to just snapping for a while and then worrying about that "Composition" stuff.

Just dropped in to say Hello, I signed up yesterday (Fri 15th).

Being a member of other forums and newish to DSLRs, I've had lots of help from Qs asked, and also reading the threads. I've read quite a few threads on this site and found it to be very helpful as well, hence my decision to join.

Thanks in advance to any help.

Jim
