View Full Version : Crane Fly Macros.
There are lots of Crane Flies (Daddy Long Legs) about at this time of year. In daylight they settle down on some convenient plant or other surface and usually don't move all day. They're an ideal subject to cut your macro teeth on as you can get as close as you like and take your time focusing and composing your shots. Use a tripod for best results. As long as you don't knock the surface they're parked on they'll be quite happy to sit there posing for you.
And if they still won't keep still, get something to pin them down!

Nice shot, Richad! :D Can I get a bigger copy of that?
Sure :)
There's a 1280 x 884 version on Flickr (click the picture and go to all sizes). I've probably got the original around somewhere which is a bit bigger if you want as well.
