I've done a few review checks on google ,just wondered if you guys on here have anything to say about this lens ,just wondered how it would work for a rally i'm going to. Would be worth a punt ,cheers :)

I had one for a while, actually not a bad lens especially for the money they are going for now. The sharpness was remarkably good although I found a slight colour cast on mine - although shooting raw allowed for very easy correction. The Autofocus may struggle to keep up in some scenarios but if you lear the limitations you should be OK.

I have one in my camera bag and I love it, for the money it was easily the best lens available however the one thing that does let it down is the slow and noisy AF. For most applications this isn't a problem but I could see it being an issue with a fast moving rally car unless of course you are pre focussing on a set point. For a fast action lens of a similar spec on a budget have a look at the 70-210 f3.5-4.5 it's very similar to the F4 model but has USM so focuses quickly and quietly, obviously it costs more!

First time I've ever looked on the bay and not found one, they generally go for a little over £100.

I've got the 70-210 f3.5-4.5 - its pretty good. I got it on ebay along with an old 28-80 for £100. Cant complain! It seems pretty good quality and it was cheap!

Sounds like a familiar tale, I got my 70-210 F4 with an EOS 300 and a 28-80 kit lens for about 80 quid, sold the kit lens for 25 quid and use the camera for a bit of b&w film if i'm in the mood!
