my Sekonic L-508 light meter has an input to connect it to a flashgun to meter directly from that....... but i cant see how it would connect to the Sigma 500 super as the flash doesnt have a socket does it? I thought perhaps the cord would have a hot shoe at one end to attach to the flash, but the flash would be attached to the camera by its hotshoe attachment so it would be used up wouldnt it.

Im confused!!!

It won't connect to a flashgun. The socket is designed to fire a studio flash to take a light reading.

you can connect it with a flash shoe adaptor and sync lead.

the flash shoe adaptor will have a sync cord plug on it or you can get them with cable already attached.

ive used one on my 20d for off camera flash but you will be able to connect it to a light meter if you want.

Just had a look at the Sekonic L-508 instructions. It would seem (as I can with my Minolta meter) than you can use it to measure the flash exposure without the PC cord. You just need to fire the flash manually and the meter will measure the instantaneous burst and ghive the approrpiate readout....

No more questions - I'm on my second bottle of Grolsch..... hic!
