I took pictures in very poor light this evening. the two observations I made were sparrows and blackbirds don't care if you use flash and second, theres weird fringing going on....
Should I persevere or is flash + birds a no-no.
I'll post it to explain even though its poor IQ

I don't use flash for birds or very rarely anyway, as it produces a less than natural look in most cases.

What lens was it Alex? - that looks very much like chromatic abberation.

mmm. I'm thinking that would be the advise. It's just too weird a lighting effect isn't it?
At least the sparrows got to feel famous for a minute. They are used to being snapped by the way because I have a "sparrow town" by my bedroom window...
thanks for the tips

Well it does look like a flash shot tbh. As to the ethics of it, we've had threads on the subject before and in most cases flash doesn't seem to bother them, but I know some will disagree. ;)
