I have been carefully deciding what new lens to buy after I sell my sigma 18-200. I have decided on the [edit]Canon 24-70mm L 2.8 lens.
I am getting a bit of a bargain on ebay right now but I could do with some feedback before I do buy it.

Does anyone use this lens or have any sort of comments on it?

Thanks!

I would have thought more like 24-70mm ... but not having a Canon I may be wrong.

Crikey .. loads of replies in the time it took me to type that ... :)

Nope, he's right. New press release:

Canon News Release:
Despite the current economic climate, Canon have seen fit to release a new super zoom lens taking into account not only the wider end of the focal lengths available, but also the super telephoto capabilities of enhanced Canon optics. Using the world class 16-piece optics found in many Canon L Series lenses, the 24-700mm f/2.8 L can achieve a massive variety of shots in all sorts of lighting conditions that very few other lenses on the market can achieve. Weighing in at only 655kg, 26cm long and with a 7cm front element, the 24-700mm f/2.8 L is the most powerful Canon lens available today.
RRP: £3,999,999

Edit: Ah, it took too long to write it out. Should have kept 'em going!

I got one secondhand and I'm really pleased with it. I don't use it as much as I do the longer lenss but it gives me lovely pictures when it does get on the camera.

Time to bash the credit card

Thanks guys. I have checked pricebuster but still cheaper on ebay!

I think I will go with it, havent heard anything bad about it and think it will be good for most of my projects on my course and for my gig photography and stuff
