View Full Version : Spider Plant Flower
This is a tiny tiny flower on my spider plant - I didn't even know that they flowered until I spotted this the other day. It's my first attempt at a macro shot so would really appreciate any comments, critisism or advice.

Thats just like my macro shooting at the moment. Beautifully subject, nice framing but, OOF. By that I mean the DOF is either too shallow or in the wrong place. The tops of the flower are nicely in focus but the centre of it (I forget the proper names for these bits) is not, nor are the petals to the rear. Like I said its the sort of shot I keep ending up with at the moment. For me I'm putting my problems down to not having a Macro lens, like wot I keep telling the wife I needs;)
I was actually aiming for the shallow DOF so I was quite pleased with that. I agree though that the centre ought to be nice and sharp as well as the stamens (I think they're called!). Maybe I ought to start convincing someone I need a macro lens too ;) . Any recommendations for a nice macro lens for a 400D anyone?

Nice shot, focus is spot on and I see what you wanted to achieve, Success. Ian

The EF-S 60mm Macro is a nice lens for the money.
Thanks Clint - a lot of people rave about the 100mm 2.8 too. I've certainly seen some good results on TP with it. I'll have a look at both, thanks
