...cos I went to Jessops and tried the 70-200 f/2.8. I love it! And I want it. Now. But I can't bloody afford it right now - even from Onestop! :bang:

Pity you have the inferior nikon fit, i could have let you have mine on long term loan along with the 1.4xtc

it's a belting lens isn't it. :)

Lol! I'm tempted to try the 100-300 f/4 as well, but the speed kind of puts me off a bit. And I wouldn't buy from Jessops anyway - they want £650 for it!

Best wait though - Sigma have just brought out the updated Macro version (I think), so 2nd hand ones might start to filter through...

So what would a TC do to my 100-400L and does anyone have one that they can bring along tomorrow? :D

Marik

Any TC with the 100-400L will lose AF, but would increase focal lenth to say.. 140-560mm or a 2x TC 200-800mm, but you have to use MF :)

Edit:

It also increse the f numbers by 1.4x or 2x too

I will have my 1.4TC with me tomorrow, you lose 1 stop with the 1.4x and 2 stops with the 2x

You do lose AF with all but 1 series bodies, but for animals and slow moving stuff it isnt normally a problem ! ;) there is a tweak invovling insualting tape on the contacts but the AF becomes quite slow with that method

Get the Nikon version - with VR.... it's definitely (and more expensive, I know) the best lens I've ever had from the Nippon Kogaku factory..... Gorgeous + 1

I love the sigma 70-200 :) I would have been up the creek with out a paddle many times if it was not f2.8.

And I wouldn't buy from Jessops anyway - they want £650 for it!

I would buy sweet f*** all from jessops, a bunch of chancing cowboys  the only reason thay get bisness is from people who know nothing about photography thinking "ah jessops there the only people that sell dear cameras"

Catdaddy-Ever thought about getting the sigma 120-300mm f2.8?or more than you need?

No, not more than I need - plenty more than I can afford (or, judging by my current photographic ability, justify) though!
