View Full Version : Best point and click for £150
Its my mums birthday coming up and thought I'd buy a digital camera for them as a joint present with my brother.
Got about £150 to spend in total.
What are the recommendations from everyone please. :help:
Cheers,
Neil

My mums just got hold of a samsung compact for around that price, it's an 8mp job too
She's had a few prints done of my sisters new born and the quality is great.
Sounds good, what is the model, do you know offhand?

I'm pretty sure thats the one she went for.
I dont know if the Fuji F11 is still available for a price in that range?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fuji-FinePix-F10-Digital-Optical/dp/B0007Z9ZQI/sr=8-1/qid=1159597697/ref=pd_ka_1/026-3173889-1860444?ie=UTF8&s=electronics
The F11 is a great shout, I have used a Fuji before and thought the quality was good overall. Amazon sells it on the above link for £152.76 which is a perfect price.
Doh, its an F10, not F11 on that link, the actual price is £200.
However the F10 looks good value
Having done further research I think its between these 3:
Sony CyberShot DSC-W30 Silver,

6X Digital zoom
2.5 LCD screen
32 MB internal memory

3X Optical zoom lens (36mm 108mm equivalent)
ISO 1600 Four times as effective in low light
High resolution 2.5 inch LCD monitor

Impressive 500 shot battery life
Ultra-quick response times
Samsung Digimax S800 8MP
8m pixels.
3 x optical zoom.
10 x digital zoom.
2.4in LCD colour screen.
10 scene modes.
Easy to use mode dial.
SD memory card compatible up to 1GB capacity.

Video output
Hmmm - The Fuji looks appealing still and it has great reviews on amazon.

Try the Olympus SP 350 -slightly more than £150 -but probably the best creative compact out there at the moment for the price. In fact beats many more expensive compacts.
