I think I saw that bird today and all I could think about was how I wish I had a lens to capture it with. Thanks for doing such a great job for me! The flies were just aweful today but somehow up close they are really interesting.
is it me or is that shot of the bird very noisy?
great shot of the fly. :)
Fly is gross - I really hate flies & think posts with them in should carry some kind of warning :gag:
It's a great capture though, very nicely done - the bird image is very good too but that is one disgustingly good fly image.
not sure if the Kite is over processed or noisy Tim, but against a really bright sky its difficult to get a decent shot of them, you havent done bad at all considering :)
That fly, is a great shot, of a disgusting subject ! lol ;)

The kite is a great shot, it does look noisey though, was the iso cranked up?
I struggle with subjects which are lit strongly from behind :(
the fly is ace

No mate ISO 100
As you say there was bright sunshine and exposure was the problem.
The original has lovely blue skies but the Kite was just a silhouette..:(
Unless you are a photoshop guru you have to set a balance in the middle some what.:)
Thanks to all for your comments..:)
Agree with Tim there, we had exactly the same problem with the Red Kites at Gigrin Farm. By the time you'd compensated for the back lit birds any colour in the sky was gone - not that there was a lot on the day to start with.
