My sigma is not autofocussing and will not take a picture unless it is in focus, can anyone help please. All my other lenses are working, I have gently wiped the sensors, my camera is clean, I've searched on google and I've searched on here but not finding anything out really, which is why I am now posting.

I have tried it on all different settings. I have had it 14 months.

Why is it that for 3 weeks I've had this proble, tried everything then the minute I post on here it starts bloody working :bang::bang: Not quite sure what I did but played with the focussing ring and then tried it and now it works.

Probably an obvious one ,have you tried the manual settings ,it should take a shot in focus or out oof .Does the A/F M/F switch on the lens feel like it's working ,it might be faulty .You say it doesn't auto focus ,will it focus manually

Oh well ,i was wrong anyway..:D, Glad your up and running again, superb lens .. eh ..

I had this problem just before Christmas and it turned out to be the focusing motor, £73 later and everything's now O.K.! Give Sigma a call.

Thanks mxfun and Lawrence for your replies

It died again at the weekend about 10 minutes into the rugby match I was at. Luckily I had a back up 18-200 not fast enough but did the job

It's annoyed me a bit as Sigma have already fixed it once and the warranty ran out in December

Might have to buy a new one altogether, yippee, shopping, ooer, no money

This happened to me once, not a focus problem, but Sigma had fixed a faulty switch (under warranty), it went faulty again out of warranty, but they still fixed it free of charge.

It could be worth contacting them?

When did they fix it, some companies re-extend the warranty to say 3 months after the last repair. Certainly worth a call just to ask.

Thanks for your replies, for some reason I thought I had a one year warranty, I've had it 13 months!

I will ring them and ask them if I have a 3 year one and send it off. Fingers crossed then
