View Full Version : Chester Zoo - Brains
A couple from today.
One of the Orangs came out wearing a piece of sack over its head.....much to the amusement of the crowd.

I don't think I saw the Orangs - got no pics of them - Oh well next time...
Love #1 - such a look on the face - as if to say mischief.
#3 - great shot but looks a wee bit soft (IMHO) - might sharpen up well in post processing.
lovely shots! number 1 for me! brilliant :D

Last shots for me  .
The young 'un on the left might be a bit soft (OOF due to depth of field ? , but might come round with some selective sharpening - ps don't ask me how to do it cos I dont know, I just know it can be done  )
Nice pics though and great subjects :)
I've only got a cheapo lens with me today so I'm not expecting to compete with the big boys with their super zooms! Gee they had some huge lenses!! A couple of nice primes too. But being the only Nikon guy there I could not test out anything else :'(
Matt....seems you have got the hang of your 100-400. Some nice shots...will post on your thread later.
Is it me, or could some of them benefit from some levels adjustment?
Feel free to play away Joe if you wish....you've got much more experience than me at adjustments etc
These little critters had everyones attention today. They way they stood to attention was great...

Now, that is cool!
Somehow the un-natural background colour gives another dimension to the shot, which I think I like.
Ive seen these before, and yes the way they stand to attention is great!
No.4 is the best of this whole set mate, very nice, no.5 focus is cracking on its eyes ! :)

Agreed!
He! He! Some excellent expressions in some of these zoo pics.
Funny how the first pic makes me think Quasimodo!
Again, love the fluffy stuff!
Agree with Joe about the levels and with the others about the later pictures :)
Saturation looks a bit high now but you get the idea...

ooooh.....just tried a levels adjustment on PS and wow....what a difference! Really lifts the colours....
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
Had to add an extra comment as number 4 is awesome, love the background, focus & pose. Excellent images
That number 4 is brilliant!
Thanks for all the positive comments and constructive advice guys. I'll have a good look through all the shots I managed to grab and sort and post later.

Stop coming up with excuses and get your pics posted young man!
well there goes my lilly shot
:)
And mine :p
I deliberately went there with a similar shot in mind...lol I got it at the last TP meet at Chester Zoo with my 350 and Sigma, so I wanted to better it this time.
Still, its normal that we all get similar shots, that's the trouble with meetups :p
Lily shot.....sorry guys. It would still be great to see your shots though to see other ways of capture...ideas etc.
A few more....just fairly plain animal portraits though

Dont worry about it mate, like I say we're all bound to get very similar shots, what with the nature of the meet, the place etc :) No need to be sorry at all :D I was only pullin yer leg
Love that otter pose.
And the last one? Is that sloth from the goonies?
And the last one? Is that sloth from the goonies?
No Marcel, it's not. How can you not recognise your twin brother? :help:
 That's it, I'm going to close the internet and ban you all.

Thanks for the comments.
good shots there. :) number 4 is really good.
number 1 looks like the orang utan just entered a boxing ring with a towel around its neck.
Really good to meet you on Saturday Brains,
you've got a good selection of shots here I really like the pose of No 4 :)
