View Full Version : Chesster Zoo - Sue
Well after a great day out here are a few of the not so bad ones I managed, not as good as some I have already seen, but mine none the less.
Please let me know what you think.

The bright sunlight looks like it was a right pain!
I think the leopard (that's right isint it?) is the best of the bunch. :)

Its a Jaguar ;) not doing well tonight Joe ;)
Yes the bright sunlight was a pain, as was the overcast as well ! lol Not bad Sue, a couple need a wee sharpen, get Matt to show you how :)
Think the Spectacled bear may be out of focus or suffering from camera shake, not sure that will recover much more than it has, still a nice shot though :)
Damn :( Sorry guys!
If it aint got 4 wheels and an engine, I'm rubbish!

LOL ;) not to worry mate ! :) least you being constructive and commenting :)
It was the best of a lot of bad bear ones, will have to have a play with some of the others later.
Thanks for the comments.

Rhinos and Hippos - my favourites. Please someone have a pic of a baby Rhino and / or Hippo.
Nice shots Sue. I too think the Leopard (or Jaguar...never can tell  ) is the best. .
But if you could do something with the Rhino shot in photoshop, maybe adjust levels, boost brightness and contrast a bit that might help
Rich
I didn't get one keeper of the bear :( Mine were all OOF, shakey or just boring.
Some great shots sue, you're definately coming along, it's quite evident that you're getting better every time :) I love that spotty one (is it a leopard? lol)
the spotty cat type thing is a JAGUAR ! ;)

Nobody got a keeper of that bloody bear, first time its been spotted in 6 years and its got a magical camera shake invoker to stop people taking photos.
First of these zoo lot I've looked at.
The rhino could do with a background that contrasts more. Not a fan of b+w generally but it certainly shows the texture of his hide.
Elephant looks good but be better if his eye was open :)
Jaguar (I knew that :shake: ) is great.
Thats an old lion! (or overexposed :) )
Seals are sharp but not doing much
Last one is a bear? and would be really good if it was sharp!
Think I'll just say nice to the other posts ;)

I just adusted levels and contrast. Might be a bit too light now  . I'm sure others could do better, but thats my effort. Nice picture of a wonderfull animal though. Thanks for sharing
Rich
Much better Rick. I think I thought the same as you on that one!
It is a good capture though .:)

The jaguar is top notch! The rhino could be a keeper too but as suggested before needs some work bringing it out from the backrgound. Great job overall! Wish I could have been there.
Sue, Jaguar stands out the most for me too, though if someone else hadnt said Id have called it a Leopard too
Glad to see so many different pics and that you all enjoyed the day.

Brilliant collection, favourite would have to be the stalker (#3), almost looks like its wild - also #4 is a rather proud looking lion.
Thanks for sharing
Rhino one for me Sue (I am slightly biased though - if its wolves or rhinos :p ) Really great set of images overall, that jaguar image is quite striking isnt it
Very nicely done.

Sue, I like where you are heading , slightly more abstract which is good. Keep developing your own style and it will come. Nice one and some good stuff evident.
Diego.
Like the jaguar. Didn't get to see it too clearly myself. Like the lighting on the elephant...shame the eye is closed. My elephant shots are dull and flat!

Think I may have one  ....will post on my thread if its anywhere near decent.

Lol, you mean the Nikon ranks would have swollen to a heady one. :D
I'm defiantly coming to the next one if we southerners don't get a meet sorted.

You could have taken some of the 'abuse' I was receiving! ;)
All in good fun.

 Well taken fella, roll with the punches and that.
My first line of quashing such abuse is to remind them they’ve all just been duped by a clever marketing strategy...that usually silences things... by introducing doubts. :D

Hi Sue, Looks like you had a great day out; I'm envious!
I love the "spotty cat" it really make me want to reach out and stroke that coat! :notworthy: Ialso agree that lifting the light/dark in the Rhino has made a good pic even better, he now looks equally tactile. To me, if an animal pic make me want to touch, then its good.
When I know you guys better, (still a bit scared of you all), I may just join you on an outing, especially if its Midlands region.
scared of us ? LOL cant imagine why that is ?
mwahahahahaha ;)
dont be scared, they arent that bad really, when you get used to hiding from all the camera pointing at you at varying points in the day.
Love no.3 though I would clone out the tiny metal bar in the bottom and maybe use some dodging on the fur to bring it out just a tad more.

You all seem so .........b****y good at what you do; I've been blown away by some of your galleries! I'm still very new to all this.......still learning what all the bells and whistles on my Canon 350D are trying to help me to do.......Still, not so scared that I haven't tried in this months comp:lol:

Some lovely photos there, as everyone has said, the jaguar is a standout pic.
I like the processing that Rick has done on the rhino shot too, really brings out teh tone and texture.
Ace work!
That's a Jaguar? I thought Jaguars are solid coloured beasts...
But I like that shot the best. :) What is it stalking!?
The Rhino is very good Sue, it really suits B&W too
