Manual Focus Issue

regarding the Fuji S7000, my friend was having a quick snap with my camera, n recently when i booted it up, the manual zoom ring seems to be completely buggered!
the zoom buttons work, but the ring just emits a 'whrrrrr' sound but doesnt zoom in or out at all!
is this some camera function thats been disabled without my knowing or a physical hardware error?

oh actually, nevermind, seems he flicked the MF notch at the side when its usually set to S-AF

When you are on c-AF or s-AF the FZ ring works as a manual zoom, when in m-AF the FZ ring works as the manual focus, you can still fast auto focus in m-AF by pressing the button in the center of the selector switch.
