As per the title, am considering a purchase and wondering if at £47, the 3 year warranty is worthwhile - do these things tend to go wrong often???
Thanks
They're pretty reliable, but at £ 1.38 per month it could be worthwhile.

It's worth if you are going to keep the camera for that long period

Is that with John Lewis by any chance? I went for their extended warranty on my 450d because it means that in the event of something going wrong, you take it back to JL and do not have to deal with Canon directly. If you've ever had the displeasure of dealing with Canon support, you'll know what a bargain this is.
The shop that sold the camera is responsible for warrenty issues up to a year, and after that period the warrenty wouldn't be with Canon anyway...
