Been looking around all week for a Sigma lens with no luck so can anyone let me know how good this one is

I had one for a while, recently sold it for a 70-200 VR.

Yes, its optically excellent, but the AF is slow. I'm not normally fussy about this sort of thing but its quite noticeable.

I'd say it was a cut above the Sigma optically but I think the AF is potentially slow enough to miss some shots.

Yeah, its a very nice lens. Quite light for an f/2.8, very nice padded carry case.

Optically its very nice, in all honesty, its very close to the 70-200 VR. I sold mine, and I'm not sure whether this will be a mistake or not (especially as the 70-200 VR I paid for this time last week hasn't arrived!)
