Hi folks,

Looking to purchase a Canon 70-200mm L series lens very soon, however I can not decide between the IS version and the non-IS version.

I have heard mixed reviews for each, with the majority of people saying the non-IS is the lens to go for.

Has anyone got experiences of these lenses, and could advise me on the best lens to buy out of these two?

depends what your shooting if your mostly doing sports or fast moving objects then no IS but if its half and half something with still objects then you could spend the extra cash to have the option.

if you can afford the is lens then get that one you can always turn it off;)

Good points. I would be mainly using this lens for motorsport, and I would like to save the cash (or maybe spend the difference between IS and Non IS on another L series?).

Non IS...
put the extra cash into another lens with a smaller range, something like a 24-70 f/2.8

i have had both - in low light the IS helps but not for sports - save the money...
