Got my hands on one! Truly stunning chunk of glass. I can see this staying on the D3 for a long time.
The girls in the office soon became tired of me testing it on them. Tis very nice though...

Only time will tell if its any better than the 28-70mm that I've just parted with.

So predictable.
I nearly had a mutiny on my hands. Seriously unhappy with me. Deleted them in front of them. Yes I do know about rescue pro! ;)
Are they hard to get hold over there then?

Hi Kev.
I'm beginning (but only just) to get to get to grips with mine now - so used to automatically ramping up the sharpness normally in PP but this bad boy doesn't need it anywhere near.
Got another outing planned at the weekend to begin to get my moneys worth out of this piece of glass.
Enjoy

 I can see my day off on Friday being a bit different to my usual ones. No aircraft shooting this week.

No other reason than lens lust I'm afraid. What can I say. :$ I was very happy with the 28-70mm, but I intend to retire in a couple of years or so and I'm building my lens collection up now.
My train of thought is if i get it right now I should have everything i need by then. ;)
This one needs to be good to beat the one I had.
Kev.
Great deal there Kev!!
I've used one on a D3 at work for a while, (it's sublime!) and am now regretting not buying one yesterday for my D700 when I was at the Focus show. It was on offer at £1049, and I can't find one anywhere now that's in stock and even close to that price! If anyone has any ideas or links I'd be very grateful!
If you don't get on with it, (almost impossible!) can I have first dibs?!:D
Enjoy!

I know, worth a try, but I don't blame you at all! It's okay though, I'll just borrow the work one till I can find one at a reasonable price! ;)
No other reason than lest lust I'm afraid.
