Next year I better have purchased a big fat lens, because it was flipping great.

I've never been to one before; encampments, castles and a battle field… and all 2000 actors, in full military attair, everyone into the spirit of the event and ready to bash each other...well nearly, The boys loved it ‘Big Time’….Highly recommended for a day out...take your longest lens, and get their early because a couple of thousand families turned up as well.

I didn't really get the sort of shots I wanted, got there too late to find a good spot and even with the Tamron on full zoom and cropping in on the images later... couldn't really get close at all.

These are all my favourite shots from the day.
C&C always welcome.

I went to one of these when we were up in Scotland and ended up not getting the shots I wanted either. There's was no room in the suitcase for the 300mm and I couldn't take hand luggage on planes at that time, which was really :bang:

#1, #3 and #6 stand out for me though.

The eye contact in #1 makes it. In #3 I laughed at the guy on the right checking his watch, then realised his arm was in a sling . #6 just has a misty post-battle feel to it, they all look a bit weary!

Some are a bit over-saturated for my liking (#4, #5), and I can see you've battled (ha) with the sky on a couple of them. The last three just look downright dangerous :)

Talk to Customer services for whichever airline you're using - they will usually make exceptions for big expensive kit.
Even Ryanair were fine - I just rang them up in advance and told them my camera kit was too large under the new emergency regs (now relaxed a little) and that it was too fragile and expensive to be put in with the hold luggage - they were fine...
AND...when you get to check-in, they walk you through to the front of the queue!!!:D
