I saw about twenty or so of these yesterday but this was the only one still intact.

What a great toadstool! I might have tried a bit of hand weeding of some of that grass. A lower viewpont and shallower depth of field, might have made it really pop. :)

The fall off in DOF looks a bit sudden - did you 'shop it?

I wish I could have spent more time getting the grass out of the way, but this area was being used as a car park so not much time.
the only 'shoppping' was to convert from RAW, crop, resize & USM.

It must be something to do with the continued warm weather we're having...lots of 'shrooms popping up all over the place!

Ahh fly-agaric! One of the most hallucinatory of all mushrooms.

Cool pic. Never seen one in the flesh so to speak

Amanita Muscaria!

Favourite of shamen the world over!

Seen plenty in the flesh but have never had the balls to try them. Liberty caps yes, but as the song says 'Amanita, You'll not eat her!'

WARNING!!!!!!! THIS MUSHROOM IS EXTREMELY POISONOUS DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES EAT THEM!!!!

Nice shot, but as said, needs some DoF control!

I dont know what equipment you were using but the depth of field and angle dont work for me. I cant help but feel if you got lower down and used a larger f-stop (smaller number) it would of taken some focus away from the background/foreground and the shroom would of had more impact. Maybe experiment with photoshop applying some blur?

Just my two cents.

King.

EDIT: Also, its worth bringing a soft brush with you so you can clean things up and a refector bouncing some light up underneath to highlight the edges of the schroom.
