Hi,

I currently have a 350D with a Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO Macro DG lens. I have been asked to take some photo's of the upcoming full moon for her indoors (helps me to justify the costs of buying new equipment).

I tried yesterday but felt that my zoom isn't good enough, has anyone tried using teleconverters?

I noticed Jessops do one for about £80 (Jessops 2X Converter For Canon Digital Cameras http://www.jessops.com/Store/s33050/0/Teleconverters/Jessops/2X-Converter-For-Canon-Digital-Cameras/details.aspx?&comp=y) but I have never used these and I am not even sure if it would work with my body and lens combination.

I know I could zoom in on the pc afterwards as I will be taking the pic with the max resolution, but her indoors wants to print it out A3 size afterwards, and I don't want to loose the quality.

Any other advice would be appreciated....

Many Thanks

Getting an image of the moon as crisp as you would like for printing that size is not as easy as it might seem. I don't get a good enough result from my 100-400L for that. Convertors will help but they also add a little quality loss of their own.

There have been some great moon shots posted by those here with huge lenses. I'd PM one of those and ask for a copy of the picture ;)

Especially note the kit he is using, but then the results are pretty stunning

So much cream cheese! You also need the atmospheric conditions you don't necessarily get in the UK.
