A fault has developed with my 600mm f4 lens, it completely discharges the battery over about 7hrs even though the camera is switched off. Anybody experienced this before, any ideas welcome. :shrug::thumbsdown::'(

any reccommended repair/sevice agencies.

Not a problem I know about but Lehmanns in Stoke did a good job for me when my 400/4DO needed a new IS module.

Sounds like the IS is continuing to suck up juice.

Daft question, have you cleaned the contacts to make sure a perfect connection?

A couple of questions John;

Is the Exif data showing 600mm?
Have you been out in damp/wet/humid conditions recently?

Do you have access to a digital multi-meter?

Hi Bob I'll check the EXIF data, but not used at all recently & never in damp, & yes I do have a digital multimeter.

John

Just checked EXIF data Bob - it shows all data correctly - canon 600mm f4 on an eos 1dMKIIn (hope this helps you to help me Bob)

I understand you kindness in taking away my problem but in honesty as much as I would love to take up your offer I would feel so bad at passing on my problem to you I just wouldn't sleep at night, my stomach would tighten and projectile vomitng would ensue, this would cause worrying from my wife & family & the stress would cause me to lapse into deep depression, I can feel my eyes glazing over right now & I suddenly feel dizzy & quite faint, - see what youve gone & done already, & thats supposed to be an offer of kindness. :nono:
