Anyone??
I'm new to this, so need all the help I can get :help:
But really fancy giving it a go..
Chers all...
What sort of budget are you looking at. I have the Sigma 105 which is great but it's almost £400. A lot also depends on your working distance.

yup, what are you wanting to take photos of?
plants etc. are fine ~90-100mm but skittish insects etc. you are better with 180-200mm if you can afford it.
which brings us back to budget ...
I had a Sigma 105mm for my Sony, fantastic lens.

sigma 105 is a belter..sharp as a sharp thing IMO.
as said though, depends on your budget.you could also use extension tubes in between your camera and lens, which also give great results and are cheaper(and i have a set i could be tempted into letting go),or there's the filters that screw onto the front of your lens, but i don't believe the results ore very good,or so i've heard.....

so what do you want to shoot?
a sigma 105 is a good comprimise with reach and light enough to hand hold, but if you want to shoot insects that are easily spooked, then a focal length of say,150mm-180mm may be necessary, but aren't easily hand held,so you may need to use a tripod...
Well if you are not too bothered about budget then the recommended ones are the Tamron 90 or the Sigma 105 for the close stuff and the Sigma 180 for further away (Bugs and stuff). Stan's the bug man here! :D

forgetting the Minolta/Sony 100mm?
and the Sigma 180 for further awayTamron 180 is very good too - only real down side is that it could use a focus limiter in AF (but you'll probably use MF anyway).
forgetting the Minolta/Sony 100mm?
Have know knowledge of them so could really give an opinion. ;)
