Took this one hand held with my 28-90 canon lens all coments welcome thanks for looking
Nobody likes a smart arse Dave. :D
That's bloody good. It'll stand some careful sharpening to bring the detail out.
Dave,
Had a little tweak on it, tweaked the levels a little, and ran USM on the lightness channel using amount 100% radius 0.2 and threshold 0

Will obviously look better done on the original, but its worth the effort mate, very nice shot ! :)
May want to spend some time and clone the crap out as well ;)
Admitting you've got competition then CT?
Unless I'm awry (not unusual) then this lens is 10x less than your 100-400L :)
Being naturally interested in such things (ie nosey) I had a look at the specs on the 28-90 and it looks just like a non EFS version of the kit lens Clicky (http://www.warehouseexpress.com/photo/lenstech/canon/EF2890III.html)
LOL Dave's done very well there, and I'm always glad to see anyone getting good results. With a 90mm lens though you've either got to be very lucky and get really close or crop to the extent that you lose image quality.
There's no subsititute for long lenses ... unfortunately.

ct is right i was very lucky to get as close as i did ..
had a go at sharpening it up and removing the cr@p. but im not the best on photoshop.:shake:
definitely better Dave ! :)
Its all practice mate, try different things, as long as you dont lose the raw file or original its never an issue ! :)
When I saw the first, I htought it could do with a sharpen and yes it does look much better.
Fabulous shot there! Looks as good as anything!

It is a very good shot Dave ... especially in the circs ...
Aside from the sharpening and saturation already discussed ... and fwiw ... the pose is just a tad naff ...imo of course ...
I know you don't have too much control over it and we are all at nature's mercy in such things but two things strike me ...
1. Robins shoot better from a front angle, although not necessarily full frontal ... as that is where all the colour is ...;)
2. If it has to be a 'back' shot the head is better looking forward ... i.e. in the direction the rest of it is facing ... they have a great profile ...:D
As I said we don't have too much control over this ... but in an ideal situation, or where you have plenty of opportunity to select the right pose ... and this is just my two pennies worth ... but it doesn't detract from your pic being a worthy subject ...
You did say comments welcome ...:p
