Hi...to cut it very short, my new Tamron SP 90 Di refuses to speak to the Sony 700, but fires no problems with my 300. Is it me (if so, which settings will work?), the camera (my Sony and Minolta lenses, and other Tamron lens, work), or a third party hassle?

Thanks.

Has it not worked since you got it? You could try giving the contacts a clean although, as it's a new lens, you shouldn't need to. Other than that in sounds like it's faulty (the lens) and should be returned to the retailer.

Edit: sorry just spotted that it works on your A300. Does seem very strange. I would still get the lens replaced though, just to check if that works.

Thanks for the quick replay fabs. I just stuck the Beercan on the 700 and am getting the no lens/shutter locked message too. Had the camera out this morning and it worked fine.

So could be something stupid i've done with one of the buttons on the 700. Going to look daft here...

Could there be a speck of dirt on the contacts on the actual camera then? Have you tried giving them a clean. Other than that, it could be a more serious issue with the camera. Is it still in warranty?

Yup, camera's still in warranty. For a change ;)

Will check the contacts.

Hey, result. Thanks so much...no visible dust to speak off, but a quick blow job did the trick (to put it bluntly :D).
