Replacing my kit lens

I use my Nikon D60's kit lens almost exclusively and it does what I want etc but I want something thats pretty much identical in spec but far better quality glass wise.

Can you reccomend a good quality lens for under £350? I dont mind buying second hand if its been looked after.

Is it worth the upgrade?

Tamron 17-50 2.8 might be a good bet.

However a Nikon 18-70 2nd hand lens is also a good option.

Cheers, whats it like at 17mm does it fisheye? Looks like a nice spec and the right money.

I have just bought a Nikon 16-85mm VR lens... slightly over your budget, but a great walking around lens, IMHO.

Wanted the 16-85 but the price went boom before i could get one, so went for the sigma 17-70, nice lens...
