View Full Version : So you win first prize in a tog comp......
and first prize is £3000 to spend in your favourite shop....so what would you buy? (This is purely hypothetical and I haven't won £3000 sadly but was just wondering what I would buy if I did).

not really a proper answere... but id take that money, spend it in a shop... buy 3000 pounds worth of stuff i could sell on... pocket the cash...
... i would then use the money to take me and the other half somewhere nice :) spend quite a bit of the time photographing what ever exotic scenary is around, then head home feeling nice, relaxed, and with a memory card full of lovely photos :)
sorry if its not the best answer

For £3k.....you'd be lucky.....or a good negotiator. ;)
Loads of pocket wizards, an 85mm f1.4, and a large format camera of some description.

Well, it depends on my current frame of mind. If I'm in a 'grass is greener' frame of mind, sell my 40d, 430ex, 24-60, 10-20 and 55-250 and buy a d700, 24-70 and a 70-200.
Alternatively I'm totally happy with my 40d so i'd buy a 5d2, sell the 24-60 and get a 24-70, sell the 10-20 and get a 17-40 and keep the 40d for the 55-250.
Yeah, some sort of fast glass.
Canon TSE-17 tilt & shift, and a chinese takeaway with what's left.

upadate my bag with a 50d, 70-200 2.8 and spend the rest on a decent bloody computer!!
I would put it towards a 500mm f4 and perhaps a wheelbarrow to cart it around!

I stand to win £750 if Sunderland are relegated this season, which should buy some nice toys but not the Tak.

£3,000?
Simple ...
Nikon 14-24mm f2.8 G AF-S ED
Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 G AF-S VR IF ED
Nikon SB-900
Comes to £3120 on Warehouse Express so I might have to throw some money in depending on the shop, but that would complete my zoom collection and add a cracking speedlight too.

The spirit of Besty lives on.
70-200 f/2.8 Nikkor (£1528)
and £1472 worth of holiday!
OR, if i had to spend it all in the same shop, then a 2nd hand D3 and a new Sigma 70-200 f/2.8, both from Mifsuds. The £2 change would go in the Devon Air Ambulance charity tin (or similar).
