Looking to purchase a new backpack and like the look of the lowepro fastpack range. I have read a few reviews on them and some say it is waterproof others say it isn't. There is no mention on ther website
Can any owners confirm for definite please ?? Living on the Isle of Man I need a bag that is waterproof
Thanks
I would imagine the lowepro bags are all shower proof, however they should all come with an all weather pull out cover, without looking at the spec i would imagine all weather means waterproof? I havn't had mine out in the rain so cant say from experience
The AW stands for all weather and they come with a plastic cover that's folded away in a small pocket, which is used in crappy weather - not sure if the actual bag / material is weather proof / shower proof

The Lowepro fastpack 250/350 is made of "water resistant" fabric, only those ranges with the suffix AW can be considered waterproof as andyred says.

Lowepro stuff can leak like mad thro' the zips, etc, unless the AW cover is used. I think AW means waterproof.

The fastpacks will withstand light showers but anything heavier, you'll need a waterproof cover. I got mine from Trekmates. http://www.trekmates.co.uk/879/Trekmates-Backpack-Rain-Cover.html
AW stands for 'All weather'

I've had mine out in a heavy-ish shower for about 5 minute and it stood up to it fine, everything inside was dry. In persistent rain I wouldn't trust it though, they're not sold as waterproof. Cheers for the links to covers in this thread, I'll be investing in one of those :)
I bought a camo waterproof cover from fleabay for my 350, cost £5 :)
Just have to try and find it now ........:bang:
just waiting for my delivery of my fastpack 350 which I knew was not waterproof, but just 'showerproof'.
Thanks for links on the waterproof covers, I might get one of those.
In a heavy shower, I have tended to put slightly smaller backpacks on my back and then worn my waterproof on top of that. That works too :)
