Hi guys,

I'm pretty new at all this and still have some pretty basic equipment that consists of:

Canon EOS 300D
Sigma 18-50 (or something like that)
Canon 80-200

I'm looking to upgrade to a 30D and nifty fifty, and sell the 300D and Sigma.

I'm fairly nervous about taking the camera out although I do hope this changes as I live in York where everyone and anyone walks around with huge cameras.

Anyway... I hope to carry this thread on for a year, hopefully documenting my improvement.

Wish me luck!! :D

C&C always welcome. Help me improve! :)

That is a lovely shot. I really like it. The Out of focus green makes the orange stand out really well. Saying that I would like to see the whole flower in the frame.

Cheers Matt,

I have a full set of these but I wanted to use just this one to reflect the title. Maybe I should post the others on another thread.

This was taken with the canon lens, details:

Exposure time - 1/1000
f/ stop - 6.3
ISO - 400
Focal length - 200mm (effectively 320mm with crop factor)

Not bad for ISO 400 on this camera ime, usually anything 400> is a bit grainy.

Week 2. Irony

Note: I need to think about composition more when I'm taking the picture, not just if the subject is 'good'.

I also received my new camera and lens yesterday (30D and nifty), so I'll hopefully get chance to go out and use them later this week. :)

As always, c&c appreciated.
