I get a fair few like this, I think it would be fun for people to post there 'greatest misses', ie a shot that looks like it would of been great if only it were taken a few milliseconds before, or maybe those shots where you were to zoomed in and cropped all the best bits out because you were not expecting them.
My greatest miss so far, manually focused and handheld I would of been so happy if I got more than half a wing in :bonk:

That could of been an awesome picture, were you at 300mm taking that? You seem more focused in on the contents of the feeder than the birds though.

Yup was at 300mm, was set up really on the perches but once they started battling over the seed the feeder and birds were all over the place and I just tried to snap what I could of thier little fight.

I've posted this before, but this was at my first attempt at motorsport photography (Superbikes at Knockhill):

I got quite a few on a similar theme :|
I normally delete misses straight away, but I kept this one because it always makes me laugh

One of my best misses.
Taken at Santa Pod during the Superstreet bike qualification.
Bike in the forground is nearly in focus but out of shot, and all the action is actually happening behind that anyway !
Made me laugh anyway.

Spidereyes,
The fact that you say that it is your first attemp and all you see is a road is so funny :)
Laughed a lot.
