Best Way to Clean a Camera Body

Hi all what is the best way to clean the Body of my Canon EOS30D ? what can I use to bring it back to a like new condition ?

Its just got a bit grubby and I not cleaning to sell just for myself..

I use wet ones on the body when needed
and a lens pen on the screen

Not that I'm the oracle, but my 40D and kit get the pleasure of the following:

- Rocket blower for surface dust, viewfinder, mirror, sensor and lens glass

- 1/2" soft bristled paint brush for general crevaces / dust that the blower won't shift (although not inside the camera body)

- Old lens cloth for LCDs and viewfinder on the camera

- A damp, lint free cloth for removing muck on the body itself

I tie mine to the car roof rail when I put it through the car wash.

The Karcher steam cleaner is my fav for the D300 Brings it up a treat every time :D







But seriously, you wont go far wrong with tbm's method, or the baby wipes already mentioned.

baby wipes are great at any flat surface or fabric and I really do believe that they have magic cleaning properties.

when it comes to the nooks and crannies of a camera body, a tooth brush and a little windowlene type stuff works wonders. The first time I was this was in a 2nd hand shop I worked at when I left school and that's how we cleaned everything we bought in....... yup, even the Leicas. :lol:

Obviously this is the kind of thing that should be tried entirely at ones own risk but I've used this on thousands of items and never harmed one yet. As long as you take care to just dip the very tips of the brush into the liquid and never pick up drops that could get inside, you'll end up with a camera that looks like new.
