View Full Version : Pink Thing....(Nerine)
Sorry for the unhelpful title, but not too good at plant names - its probably in Latin and not easy to spell or say......

Taken at Savil Garden yesterday,
for those wondering whether I do any work as I have posted quite a few pictures during the past 48 hours I have been working in the evnings instead
Yep its definately a pink plant thing :)
DOF is good, but...
- exposure needs a tweak.
- also the anlge could have been better slightly more front on.
Very pretty...a lily of some sort maybe? Took this yesterday at the zoo.

Don't be silly Rebecca ... that is no Lily ... it's a Flamingo ...!
Nice take on it though ... excellent colouring and fine sharpness in the feathers ... love it ...

BTB Rob ... nearly forgot ... ;) ... not a bad shot ... good colour and use of DoF ... just need to practice with the composition a little ...

Sorry Rob ... missed the question entirely ...
As they say ... a picture paints a thousand ... so for composition ideas it is always worth checking out other stuff ...;)
Try this site ... seems to specialise in fowlers a bit and even has this Lily section ...

It's then down to practising with your gear set up and finding DoF and other settings that please you on your selected compositions ... it will undoubtedly vary pic to pic ...
And don't forget lighting ... it is crucial with plants as with everything else ... a white reflector to the shadow side works wonders in daylight ... and a bright overcast day may produce best results ...
HTH ...:D
:p
Thanks Ven. I was thinking of adding a reflector to the christmas list - i know I am too old to believe in the tooth fairy and father christmas but if it works I'll believe in most things
