Ok I maybe thick here too, but does image #1 which is void relate to post #1 in the comp thread? which if it is makes sense why it is void, or does it relate to the first photo which is in reply #2 which doesn't make sense why it's void :cuckoo:

I'm assuming it relates to Post 1, as the other void one (103) relates to the post No. 103 which had an oversized image, rather than Post 104 (which would be image 103) which is fine..........

Ye I think so too, so maybe the labels should say post #1, post #2 etc to save any confusion

Found it tough this month :thinking:, could have voted for half the entries to be honest - but that's probably because i'm a bit of a sucker for Contre-Jour (:cuckoo: despite having to look it up when the subject was posted last month!) Whilst browsing through lightroom updating Keywords, it seemed that every 3rd/4th image I'd taken outside was getting the Contre-Jour tag! (:lol: thats the dangers of learning new terms I suppose - 3 hours of wading through lightroom!)

Anyway - well done to everyone who managed to get an entry in this month, there's some real belters in there! :thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

I really struggled with this one and was so close to posting an old shot. I love it, but to me it's not what the competition is about. I want to stretch myself as an artist (did I just say that?).

While things are busy in here, i'll just remind everyone if I may that i'll be doing a running leaderboard after the votings closed and winners declared. It is the percentage of people who have voted, that voted for yours. So if 100 people have voted and you have 10 votes then 10% of the voters voted for you, I believe.

Absolutely.

So many images here where people have taken what appears to be a great deal of effort to take a shot within the theme yet many shots (good ones) which appear to have missed the point are getting votes.

Well I didnt enter this month, but Ive just voted... and I am sorry to say it was a poor showing :(

There were some nice images, but I dont think they fit the theme at all, so they didnt get a vote from me. And some just dont look like they had any thought put into them.

I must be in a bad mood today, but I think the quality has dropped slightly this month.

I'd say it was a bit patchy, to be honest. Still some nice images, though I have to admit i'm in sunset overload mode at the moment. As for the off-theme images, i'd have to agree - I stopped counting when I'd hit 15 off topic shots:cuckoo:.

It's not all doom and gloom though, on a personal note, this is the first month i've submitted an image i've been truly happy with:woot:, and it seems I'm not just getting less critical of my work, as I've alread got more votes than any other month. :thinking:So, either i'm coming up, or everyone else is sinking to my level :lol:

I didn't vote for many either. There are some brilliant images but they didn't really fit my interpretation of the theme, in fact that included my favourite image of the lot, so they didn't get my vote.

I'm not looking to cause an argument but I honestly don't see how you can critise the quality of pictures or say that some don't look to have put in any thought of the pictures entered when you said yourself you haven't entered a picture this month :shrug: at least some people have put in the effort to enter :thumbsdown:

As i've said earlier - there were a lot of off-topic photo's entered this month. I can't see the point in putting all the effort into entering, only to submit something that's got little or nothing to do with the month's subject. That in itself surely betrays a fundamental lack of thought processes, or am I missing something?

When I read the subject for April my reaction was :eek::eek::eek: what the hell does that mean? Fortunately Google was my friend, and after due research I found that not only was Contre-Jour not something furtive that those damned frenchies created to pass the time between surrendering or eatng cheese, it was a style of photography that I was already doing on a fairly regular basis.

When I view this thread there's a note below the poll that says I've already voted. Is it in the initial bit, you can tick more than one box? Was I just being naive by assuming that it was one vote per member.

:clap: to everyone who entered and thanks to those who voted for my Eiffel Tower shot. Now, I asked my Mum (being from France herself) if it would seem "contre-jour" to her and she thought it did which is why I entered, plus with the French term, I thought I would use a French photo :D:D

Out of curiosity, was the light from the top of the tower real from a sllow shutter speed or did you 'manipulate' it in pp?

Very effective.

But to be honest it was a handheld shot taken by chance as I was passing glen garry viewpoint. I did use nd grads though ;)

Glad to be of service everyone - although rest of the months will be a simple job of rolling the names in, and should be a hour or so's work at month end only. Of course, if we could just get those pesky blank entries (the blue ones in the YTD sheet) it'd be easier still.

I'm well chuffed with the results myself - 9 votes in one month is better than I could have hoped for, and i'd like to thank everyone who voted for me. Next target double figures :D

Thank you for your comment. It was a slow shutter speed, the only bit of pping there was to straighten and a slight sharpen. Stuck it on the self timer - took me quite a few shots to get the timing right :lol: It was a case of "here's one of the tower, here's another, and here's another.....and another" That one was one of the last shots I took after making all my mates wait for ages :D It's the whole reason I bought my gorillapod, purely to get that shot. I've tried before by using guide books, jackets, handbags etc
