I use a Phottix remote release, good value and works a treat. Found on ebay for under £20

My ML-L3 works from behind. I was only a foot away. I have not tested it form further.

The ML-L3 works from behind if you're indoors. It's just like a TV remote, it doesn't have to be direct and the IR beam can bounce about the room.

If you're outdoors it may not work so well.

I find IR remotes are unreliable at anything more than short range indoors. You need a radio remote and the Hahnel looks very good for the money, but I've only tried one in a shop. Much cheaper than a Pocket Wizard :)

:suspect: :bonk:

It'll work fine from anywhere in the same room; as above, if you are looking to use outdoors then the Phottix remotes can work well.
